23kg silver, 250gm gold stolen from Rohini shop
New Delhi: A gang of 10 to 15 men broke the shutter of a jewellery showroom, made the security guard hostage in Rohini’s Buddh Vihar and decamped with articles worth several lakhs on the small hours of Saturday.
Preliminary probe reveals that the burglars stole about 23 kg of silver and 350 gm of gold from the shop.
The police said that the incidence took place in Vijay Vihar area where around 3am, one guard was stopped and made hostage by two people while other members of their gang sneaked into the store and broke the lockers. The miscreants managed to give the police a slip after the patrolling party saw them flee the spot and gave a hot chase.
Accoridng to the police, at that moment, when the robbers were escaping, the police constable on patrolling saw them and tried to nab but failed. Later, the guard informed the owner Praveen Aggrawal, about the incidence.
Aggrawal, in his FIR, stated that his neighbour informed him about the robbery. He also stated that the guard had not shown any resistance fearing an assault by the group.
In last few days, this is the third incidence of robbery in the same area. Previously, a businessman was robbed of Rs 5 lakhs and another businessman was kidnapped and huge ransom was demanded in return.
After the news of robbery broke out, traders in the area protested against the police’s non-competency.
They jammed the Rohini-Kanjhawala road for almost one hour.
The cost of items is around Rs 2 lakhs in the market.
The investigation has begun and no arrests have been made so far.
