New Delhi: A jawan of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), posted in the Sanjay Amar Colony checkpost, Tilak Bridge, was thrashed by three of his colleagues. The victim suffered multiple injuries and his arm was broken. He alleged that the accused also made casteist remarks against him.  

RPF constable Anup Kumar Yadav, a resident of Shahdara, was posted at Sanjay Amar Colony barrack, Tilak Bridge. He was on night duty on January 25. At around 1.45 am, he felt cold and went inside the barrack to bring his monkey cap. When he reached the barrack, the accused head constable Surrender Singh, head constable Ashok Kumar, constable Harswaroop were inside. Ashok Kumar, who was consuming liquor, started hurling abuses at Mr Yadav without any apparent provocation. He tried to pacify the head constable and told him that he just came to take his money cap. They reportedly made casteist remarks then and also assaulted him with wooden sticks.

Somehow Mr Yadav managed to escape and made a PCR call. He alleged that the accused had threatened him with dire consequences.

Mr Yadav, who suffered multiple injures, has been on medical leave since the incident.

The police filed a case under various sections of IPC. The matter is being investigated though no arrest has been made as of now.

“We are investigating the matter and have to follow some procedure as the case is related to RPF. We need to intimate their senior officials on this matter, said a police official on the condition of anonymity.
