The deceased doctor was identified as Astha Munjal, a resident of Panchsheel Park in Delhi.
A PCR call about the incident was received around 5.50 am, after which police officials rushed to the spot and found the doctor’s cabin locked from inside at the first floor in neurology ICU department of the hospital, said deputy commissioner of police (west) Monika Bhardwaj.
A syringe was found lying on the floor near the body of Dr Munjal who worked in the neurology department. The aluminum door was locked from inside and was forcibly opened by guards in early morning, the officer said.
Investigations revealed that the syringe was jabbed on the left arm. Her bag and mobile phone was also found near the body, the DCP said, adding Dr Munjal tied knot with Dr Udai Dhingra one year ago. Dr Dhingra works at Guru Teg Bahadur hospital in Shahadra.

Less than an hour later, guards broke open the door and found the young doctor lying dead.
Although police said preliminary investigation revealed suicide as the cause of death, the family of the deceased alleged foulplay and demanded a thorough investigation.
The body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death, the DCP said.
Dr. Munjal’s father said she was killed in a planned manner, adding that she was not happy working in the hospital because of internal politics at her workplace.
