New Delhi: The Delhi police arrested a 19-year-old youth for killing his live-in partner. The accused had murdered his girlfriend in a rented flat in Shakarpur on March 31.

The police said that on April 2, a team of special staff was present at Anand Sagar Restaurant, Bhajanpura. They received a tip-off that one person who had murdered his girlfriend would come near Yamuna Vihar bus depot, Bhajanpura. Acting upon the information, the special staff laid a trap near Yamuna Vihar bus depot. At about 5.25 pm, the staff apprehended one person, Imran. On interrogation, he admitted to his hand in the crime. He is illiterate and is a smack addict. He also picked pockets in buses and markets.

The accused disclosed that a year ago, he came into contact with one girl in a club at Netaji Subhash Place, Delhi. Soon, they fell in love. The girl and her elder sister resided in a rented house at Shakurpur Village. In this house, he along with one Sahil used to stay at night. She belonged to Nepal. The girl was in contact with other boys also. On this issue, they used to quarrel, according to the accused. In the evening on March 31, Imran and the girl were alone in the house when a quarrel started over her affairs with other boys. It was then Imran tried to strangulate her and then hit her head with a disc stand. As she started bleeding, he fled from the spot, taking all his belongings.
