Two robbers held, one country-made pistol recovered

During the chase, the robber sitting on the pillion fell from the bike and sustained an injury in his right leg.

New Delhi: The Delhi police has rounded up two robbers after a chase of nearly two km. Identified as Zuber Alam and Rahul, the police said with their arrest, more than 14 cases of snatching, robbery and theft have been solved.

DCP southeast Chinmoy Biswal said that on May 1, two men on a motorcycle robbed a woman’s gold chain near Roxi Chowk, Central Market, Lajpat Nagar and escaped.

Sub inspector Amit Pratap and head constable Ominder, who were patrolling in the locality, upon hearing the victim’s hue and cry of the victim, they came to the spot immediatelt and immediately came into action and gave chase to the robbers on their motorcycle.

“The police after chasing the robbers on bike for about 1.5-2.0 km, apprehended the duo near the Defence Colony Flyover.

During the chase, the robber sitting on the pillion fell from the bike and sustained an injury in his right leg. On frisking Zuber Alam, the police recovered one loaded illegal country-made pistol and a live cartridge from his possession. The police arecovered the gold chain from Alam.

During interrogation, the accused Rahul Parcha and Zuber Alam disclosed that they both are school dropouts and are childhood friends and lived in the same locality in Trilokpuri.”

Probe revealed that the duo in order to lead a comfortable lifestyle snatched gold chains and mobiles and used fake number plates on stolen bikes and sold them .

They used to target those people in isolated placews, who wore gold chains and used mobile phones, and forcefully or snatch chains edand mobile phones. It was revealed they used to dispose off the robbed articles at cheaper prices to a jeweller in Trilokpuri. The jeweller is still absconding.
