Delhi: Man gets life term for killing wife

The court noted that the accused, Deepak Kashyap, brutally stabbed his wife more than eight times which led to her death.

New Delhi: A man, who was facing prosecution for killing his 23-year-old wife and stabbing his mother-in-law, was awarded life term by a city court which also imposed a fine of Rs 26,000 on him saying he didn’t deserve any leniency.

The court noted that the accused, Deepak Kashyap, brutally stabbed his wife more than eight times which led to her death. The accused did not stop here, he stabbed his mother-in-law, too, when she tried to save her daughter.

“The woman died after she was stabbed thrice. But the accused kept on stabbing her to ensure her death. The prosecution has successfully brought home his guilt. He doesn’t deserve any leniency,” the court noted in its order.

The court has also directed the Delhi Legal Service Authority to compensate the mother-in-law of the accused.

According to the prosecution, the incident took place in 2012. The deceased, Radha, was passing through Burari area along with her mother when Deepak reached there and attacked her with a knife. Radha’s mother tried to save her, but was also attacked. Radha was moved to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead on arrival.

The family of the deceased told the cops that Deepak tied the knot with Radha in 2010. After the marriage, he started demanding money in the name of dowry. He also used to beat her over petty issue and abuse her. Radha left the house and started living at her parental house. Enraged over the move, the accused killed Radha in 2012.
