AAP MLA assaulted by ration shop owners

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party legislator from Timarpur Pankaj Pushkar was allegedly assaulted physically by some people in his constituency on Saturday.

The incident, which became viral on the social media, took place at around 11. 30 am on Saturday. In the footages, couple of people including a woman could be seen pushing and manhandling the MLA and policemen could be seen mediating and trying to rescue the MLA.

According to the information, Mr Pushkar was assaulted by some people when he went to inspect some ration shops in the area. The MLA has said that he along with Imran Hussain, minister of food and civil supplies, went to inspect two ration shops in Timarpur area as some irregularities were alleged against them. People running those ration shops and their families assaulted him, Mr Pushkar alleged.

His mobile phone was also allegedly snatched and thrown by those people. Later in the evening, Mr Pushkar registered a complaint at the Timarpur police station and an FIR has been lodged. He was sent to Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital for medical examination.
