Vijayvargiya's PA falls prey to snatchers

New Delhi: Despite tall claims made by the police of curtailing street crimes in the city, muggers had a field day in south Delhi on Thursday after they escaped with valuables in four separate incidents, including the laptop of BJP national general secretary’s PA in Amar Colony.

According to the police, the armed muggers on a bike targetted target South Delhi where they snatched gold chains from two women in a span of five minutes in Pushp Vihar and DLF Mall in Saket.

They then moved on to Fatehpur Beri where they overtook a biker and robbed him of Rs 3.4 lakh at gun point and also took away his mobile phone.

In the DLF Mall, Saket incident, the bikers snatched a woman’s gold chain at 9.55am The police said the victim identified as Raj Lakshmi was on her way to office when the muggers attacked her.

In a similar incident, the men mugged Noida based Shashi Mishra, 33, in Sector 5 of Pushp Vihar. At about 10am, when she went for a walk outside her office, two men on a Black Pulsar came from behind and tried to snatch her gold chain. When she held on to her gold chain, one of the muggers brandished a pistol and took away the chain.

In another incident, the bikers robbed a man in Fatehpur Beri at gun point and escaped with '3.4 lakh in cash and also his mobile phone. When the victim tried to resist, they threatened to shoot him and then fled the spot.

The BJP’s general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya’s PA R.R. Sathe was robbed of his bag in Amar Colony. Two youth accosted Mr Sathe on Oct. 29 when he was heading home from the BJP leader’s residence. They snatched his bag and fled. The victim lodged an FIR in this regard. The police are checking the CCTV footage in a bid to identify the culprits.
