Man held for killing school principal
Main accused still absconding, efforts on to arrest him, says police.
New Delhi: Continuing their probe into the double murder case of a school principal and her brother, who were murdered in Dwarka and Haryana over a property row, the team of Dwarka police has arrested the second accused.
The school principal and her brother were murdered on March 5 night. The arrested person, Sandeep (22), is loyal to the main accused Naveen. He said that he was promised Rs 2 lakh to do the job. Sandeep not only helped in procuring arms and ammunition but also provided the car.
The team earlier had arrested a driver in this regard on March 9. The driver, identified as Ranjeet, confessed that he helped Naveen in murdering Jaikishan and Anita Yadav as he was assured of a hefty sum to commit the double murder.
He revealed that one Sandeep is also involved in the case along with Naveen. Efforts are on to arrest his other accomplices.
According to the police, the efforts yielded results on April 3, when the police received information that Sandeep would visit Chhawla police station to get an update in the case.
The police shared the information with the SHO of Chhawla police station, which led to Sandeep’s arrest on April 3 evening. Efforts are on to arrest the main accused, Naveen. During interrogation, Sandeep said that he met Naveen a few years ago and started working for him.
He later introduced Ranjeet to Naveen, who was his neighbour and also worked as cab driver. As a loyalist, Rajneet confessed that being Naveen’s loyal servant; Sandeep arranged arms and ammunition from Amethi. Naveen also promised him a hefty sum and paid some amount as advance. He also roped in Ranjeet and offered him huge sum of money for carrying out the murder.
He shot at the school principal from point blank range. Her son was present at the spot and was lucky to escape as the pistol used by accused Naveen malfunctioned.
Ranjeet was badly in need of money for his love marriage with his girlfriend, so he joined them. About a week prior to the murders, he alongwith Sandeep came to Ghummanhera and started a reccee in Sandeep’s Wagon R car with Naveen. On March 5, they got the right opportunity and carried out the murders.
