Businessman harasses CISF woman constable, held

The accused, identified as Purushottam Lal Bagga, had been staring at the woman official who was posted at Terminal No. 2 of the IGI.

New Delhi: A businessman was held at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport for allegedly misbehaving, manhandling, and threatening a woman, who turned out to be an undercover CISF constable.

The accused, identified as Purushottam Lal Bagga, had been staring at the woman official who was posted at Terminal No. 2 of the IGI.

He also made several obscene gestures and when she objected to it, he threatened her. The victim then called her colleagues and the accused was nabbed. Later he was handed over to the Delhi police.

A senior police official said that the victim was performing her duty at the security check-post at IGI Terminal number 2 when the incident happened.

“It was about 7 pm when she noticed that the accused was staring at her. At first she ignored him, thinking it was just her assumption. But the accused continued ogling her. He also winked at her and made obscene gesture with his tongue,” the official said.

The victim then asked the accused to show his passport and questioned his move. This made the accused angry. He allegedly manhandled the woman and threatened her of dire consequence. She then called her seniors and other security staff who nabbed him.

“The accused was identified through his passport. He was arrested and a case in this respect was registered with the IGI police station under relevant sections of the IPC,” the official said.

The accused was questioned for hours at the police station. However, he was later released on bail. “The sections under which he was booked were bailable. We released him on bail from the police station,” the police said.
