Provide more security in East Delhi, says Maheish Girri
New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party national secretary and Lok Sabha MP Maheish Girri on Wednesday met special commissioner of police S.B.K Singh and expressed his concern over the rising crime graph in the east Delhi district.
Mr Girri said that thefts, robberies, and drugs issues were on the rise in east Delhi. He also handed over a letter to the special commissioner of police urging him to ensure adequate security and taking strict action to maintain law and order situation in the area.
“If the police takes strict action against criminals they would not think twice to indulge even in petty crimes,” Mr Girri said. He had also written a letter in this respect to Union home minister Rajanath Singh requesting him to deploy more police force in the east Delhi.
The number of police personnel in the parliamentary constituency is lower compared to other areas. Though the police is trying hard to provide security and regulate traffic, but due to less number of policemen, lot of law and order problems have arisen. .
Mr Girri said that people should be sensitive to the safety of women, children and the elderly. The Delhi police should be more vigilant against anti-social elements. Mr Girri said that fear can be overcome only by awareness.
“Therefore, I appeal to everyone not to tolerate and ignore any kind of criminal activities, but to immediately inform the police. In view of security, CCTV cameras have been installed in and around the Delhi-UP border. The work to install cameras in other areas is going on,” Mr Girri added.
