Python rescued from Tughlakabad

The NGO said the two snakes are currently kept under observation.

NEW DELHI: Two snakes, including a four-feet-long Rock Python, were rescued from southeast Delhi’s Tughla-kabad area and Central Delhi’s Paharganj area. NGO Wildlife SOS receiv-ed a call on Thursday midnight about the python under a car inside a residential colony in Tughlakabad Extension.

The python was discovered by a passer-by and became a cause for panic among residents of the colony and as people gathered at the spot, the snake made its way to a water pipe. The NGO said a te-am was rushed to the spot to carry out the rescue op-eration. “This area is loca-ted close to the Jahanpan-ah City Forest which is home to a variety of wild-life species mainly birds, reptiles and antelo-pes.

It is essential that we remain sensitive to the presence of wild animals in the city and learn to co-exist,” said Kartick Satya-narayan, co-founder and CEO of Wildlife SOS.

In another incident on Wednesday, a nearly five-feet-long black-headed royal snake, was rescued after it was found outside a house in Central Delhi’s Paharganj area.

The NGO said the two snakes are currently kept under observation.
