Delhi BJP questions three general secretaries for goof-ups
New Delhi: The Delhi BJP leadership has decided to seek explanation from three general secretaries for all the goof-ups made during the recent civic polls. The decision was made after it came to the notice that Central observers submitted an adverse report raising serious doubts on the functioning of the state unit despite the party’s historic victory.
Sources said that it has come to the notice of the top leadership of state unit that three Delhi BJP general secretaries — Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Ravinder Gupta, and Rajesh Bhatia — were busy in self glorification by sidelining seniors and ignoring the party’s interest.
“Ignoring the practice, they have started putting their photos in all the publicity materials. Even during the ‘Vijay Parv’ or booth level workers meet, they placed their photos in all the hoardings and publicity materials. Earlier, only the names of general secretaries appeared with the picture of the state president in such materials. During designing of the campaign rath, they failed to put pictures of the former state unit chiefs, Vijender Gupta and Satish Upadhyay,” they added.
It was only placed after intervention by Manoj Tiwari, the Delhi BJP chief,” they added.
Even the report submitted to BJP president Amit Shah by the Central leaders, who were appointed to supervise and guide the state unit in the civic polls, pointed that there is complete lack of coordination and direction in the campaign as planned by the state unit.
“Central observers found that factionalism was at its peak in the middle of election campaign. Some state office bearers were busy in self-glorification and violated the set norms of the party for personal publicity,” said a party insider.
A party leader said that Central observers have taken a serious note on the role played by the three general secretaries.
“Instead of making concrete strategy to ensure victory during the polls, they were working with personal agenda in their mind. They never missed any opportunity to display their photo, but on the other hand they failed on the strategy part. They used wrong photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr Shah in the first campaign poster. They also approved a photo of Mr Tiwari which is not in good taste,” he added.
