Ajay Maken slams Modi, CM over jobs
New Delhi: Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken on Saturday said that the manner in which Narendra Modi had promised to give employment to crores of youth in the country, which has not been fulfilled, in the same way the Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal had also promised before the elections to give eight lakh jobs, but this promise has also been proved to be hollow.
While addressing a press conference, Mr Maken said when 82 per cent of the vacancies in the Delhi Employment Exchange has not been filled, how can the Delhi Government give employment to lakhs of people. He said out of the 357 posts in the Delhi Employment Exchange, only 18.5 per cent has been filled which means 300 posts have not yet been filled in the Delhi Employment Exchange till date. He said that according to the Delhi Government’s Statistical Handbook, upto 31 December, 2016 , 12,97,364 people had registered with the Delhi Employment Exchange, and if the figures for 2017-18 included, then the total number of people who are registered with the Delhi Employment Exchange goes upto 15 lakh.
Mr Maken said that the Delhi Employment Exchange in reply to a query filed by Delhi Congress RTI Cell, gave the figure of giving jobs in Delhi in 2016 to 102 people, 2017 to 66 people and upto April 2018 only 46 people. He said it shows that instead of giving employment to eight lakh people, the AAP Government in Delhi has given employment to only 214 people, starting from 2016 uptil April, 2018.
The Delhi Congress President also said that in the Output-Outcome Budget of 2017-18 of the Directorate of Employment, a target to give employment to 5000 people through Job Fair was set.
He said that the AAP Government, which fixes the target to give 5000 jobs in a year, how this Government would provide jobs to lakhs of people, as the AAP had promised to give eight lakh jobs.
