Woman stabbed repeatedly in East Delhi, critical

The accused called the woman, an aspiring air hostess, to meet him and after a brief conversation, he stabbed her.

New Delhi: A 21-year-old aspiring air hostess was repeatedly stabbed in full public view near her house in Mansarovar Park in Shahadra district on Wednesday evening.

The victim has been admitted to GTB Hospital and is said to be in a critical condition. The accused is absconding. The victim’s parents, who were at their respective work places when she was attacked, are clueless about the motive behind the attack.

A senior police official said they are suspecting a 22-year-old man, identified as Aadil who has been previously arrested in an auto lifting incident, of committing the crime. The police said that the accused is likely a jilted lover.

A PCR call was received from Ramnagar area informing the police of the incident. In a preliminary investigation, it has been found that the accused had called the woman to meet him and after a brief conversation, he stabbed her.

“He took her next to a drain where they engaged in a conversation. Eyewitness recounted that there was an argument after which he took out a knife and attacked her inflicting multiple wounds. After that, he fled,” said DCP Nupur Prasad (Shahadra).

There were many onlookers as the incident took place with several shops in the vicinity. One of shopkeepers informed the police, who rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where she was admitted and underwent a surgery.

Her family members, who rushed to the hospital, could not disclose mu-ch on whether Aadil had ever approached her in the past, said Ms Prasad. The police will question them again, she added.

The girl’s mobile has been recovered and the police are checking the phone records to ascertain how often the two had communicated and whether he had threatened her in the past as well. A CCTV grab has also been found, but it only shows the victim and the accused walking. The stabbing incident has not been captured on it.
