DUSU polls: ABVP launches manifesto

The students' union also focused on the students' demand to have one sports complex in the South Campus.

New Delhi: ‘Agitation with a Solution’ is the main agenda of the RSS-affiliated students' wing, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), which launched its manifesto on Tuesday ahead of the Delhi University Students Union (Dusu) elections, scheduled to be held on September 12.

Focussing on the issues related to the problems of students in DU, the ABVP said it would provide 6 per cent of GDP to the education sector, to make sports, ECA and other quota admissions more transparent, to fill the vacant seats of OBC/SC/ST/PH in various colleges and to affiliate every college of the Delhi University with the students’ union.

Talking to reporters, ABVP's national media convener S. Bahugana said, “Out of 77 DU colleges, only 52 colleges vote during the students' union elections. The ABVP will strive to affiliate each DU college with Dusu without holding a referendum.”

The manifesto also promised to improve the overall infrastructure of the university, to open the central reference library 24x7, to build more new colleges and ensure that 50 per cent of them be for girl students. The students’ union also focused on the students' demand to have one sports complex in the South Campus.

To make the campus a safe place for women, ABVP stressed upon the need for implementation of internal complaints committee against sexual harassment etc.
