Man kills wife, son before committing suicide in Delhi
New Delhi: A 45-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after brutally killing his wife and a minor son at their residence in outer Delhi's Nihal Vihar area, the police said on Tuesday.
The bodies of the three family members were discovered by the man's elder son Tuesday afternoon, after which the police were informed.
A purported suicide note has been found from the spot in which the man wrote about being depressed and committing suicide. He did not blame anyone in the note.
Police are probing the exact sequence of events.
It is suspected that Vinod Kumar first killed his 40- year-old wife Sujata and their 12-year-old son Prince on the second floor of the house and then hanged himself, said a senior police officer.
The couple's 22-year-old son, works with a telecom company, and had discovered the bodies said he had dinner with his family on Monday night and after that he went to pick a relative from the railway station.
Since he returned late, he slept on the ground floor.
On Tuesday, when he woke up in the noon and went upstairs to the second floor, he found the bodies of the three family members, he said.
His father was found hanging in one room and in the other room, he found the bodies of his mother and his younger brother with multiple injuries, the police said.
It is suspected that they were hit with a wooden plank and stabbed multiple times with a knife, an officer said, adding the weapons were seized from the spot.
The elder son has claimed that he did not sense anything abnormal in his father's behaviour on Monday night, the police said.
The police said that Kumar was depressed and was undergoing treatment. Earlier, he was involved in the aluminium business but of late, he was not focusing on it.
They are probing whether the couple had marital discord.
