42 cartons of illicit liquor seized during W Delhi raid
New Delhi: The Delhi police has arrested a bootlegger after a hot chase and recovered 42 cartons of illicit liquor.
DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that a team from Chawala police station arrested a bootlegger, Dharmender (25), and recovered 42 cartons containing 2,062 quarters of illegal liquor.
It also recovered the car that was used to transport liquor from Haryana to Delhi.
The police said that it had received a tip-off. On Thursday, around 5 am, the team noticed a car being driven at high speed.
It was signalled to stop, but the driver sped up the car and ran after hitting the police barricades.
The team immediately followed him.
Owing to its high speed, the car jumped in the air while crossing a speed breaker. Subsequently, it turned upside down and rammed into a pole. Meanwhile, two persons came out of the car and tried to flee.
However, the police got hold of one of the accused.
