Delhi: Youth dies after being stabbed over a dozen times at 'jagran'
New Delhi: A youth was stabbed over a dozen times on Friday when he was attending a 'jagran', a religious gathering, in outer Delhi's Mongolpuri area, following which the accused was arrested, police said.
The victim was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi hospital, but due to the ongoing strike by doctors, he was shifted to another hospital, where he was declared "brought dead", they said.
Arjun (18) was stabbed allegedly by Sahil after an argument over the jagran. It is suspected that Sahil was accompanied by some more people who threw chilli powder in the victim's eyes before attacking him, a senior police officer said.
Sahil fled from the spot after the incident but was nabbed this afternoon. The weapon used in committing the crime was also recovered, the officer said.
Arjun's family said he had gone to attend the jagran in the neighbourhood where he a fight with Sahil. They knew each other and had fights over minor issues earlier, police said.
The accused is being interrogated to ascertain the exact reason behind the murder, they said, adding Sahil is an accused in an attempt to murder case.
