Delhi: Female driver flees spot after hit-and-run case
New Delhi: In a shocking hit and run case in Delhi’s Jaffrabad area, a female driver hit an 18-year-old youth from behind. Later, on the pretext of parking the car, she fled from the spot.
The incident took place on the night of April 1. The victim is out of danger, said the police.
According to the police, the victim, Keshav Sharma (18), was standing near Ghonda Chowk around 11.30 pm on Sunday. It was then that a speeding car mowed him down. The car was being driven by a woman.
Meanwhile, a crowd gathered near them and tried to help the victim. The woman started apologising and requested the people to let her park her car so the road would not be blocked, said an eyewitness.
However, instead of parking the car, the woman fled from the spot thus leaving behind the injured. “I had lost consciousness, so I could not note down the number or the model of the car. Even the gathered people forgot to note it down as no one even imagined that she would run away,” the victim said. The police said that since the victim was not in a state to make a statement, the call was pending. On Thursday, the victim made a statement and a case was registered under appropriate sections of the IPC.
The police is checking CCTV footage to identify the accused and her car.
