CM misleading people, claims East Delhi mayor
New Delhi: Reacting to Delhi government’s claim that enough funds have been released to the BJP ruled civic bodies, East Delhi mayor Bipin Bihari Singh said on Saturday that every penny received is accounted for and chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is misleading people with his false claims.
Mr Singh, while addressing a press conference along with two other mayors and Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, alleged that the Delhi government is withholding funds under a conspiracy.
“On the recommendations of the 4th Delhi Finance Commission, from the year 2012 it (Delhi government) had to pay Rs 10,228 crore and after the court orders, Rs 1,904 crore also for the year 2017 and 2018. However, the Delhi government granted only Rs 323 crore,” said Mr Singh. Mr Singh claimed that during this financial year, only Rs 442 crore have been given by the Delhi government, which is little amount. “The EDMC has to pay Rs 850 crore to the employees only as salary for five months. In spite of this, the EDMC is providing transparent services to the people,” Mr Singh added.
Mayor (North) Adesh Gupta alleged that Mr Kejriwal is taking revenge from the people of Delhi for his party’s defeat in the civic polls last year, which is condemnable.
He demanded immediate release of the funds due to the NMCD. South Delhi mayor Narender Chawla claimed that the South corporation requires Rs 1,580 crore from Delhi government, but the government has released only Rs 536 crore.
“The chief minister is not considering the release of the rest of the fund and creating hurdles in the work and facilities given to the people by the SDMC,” said Mr Chawla.
