New Delhi: Starting now, skipping three consecutive party meetings will cost Delhi BJP office-bearers heavily. The party leadership has decided that the office-bearers who will remain absent from three consecutive meetings would be removed from their post.

The decision was taken after it was found that several office bearers were regularly missing from key meetings called to discuss important issues and strategies.

Confirming the decision, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari told this newspaper that any office-bearer, whose presence is expected by the state leadership in a meeting, is supposed to attend it. In case of failure to attend the meetings for three consecutive times, the said office-bearer will be removed from the position he or she was holding in the state unit, district, or in any of the party’s cell or department.

“In case of emergencies, an office-bearer can inform the state leadership about his or her absence from a meeting provided there is a genuine reason. Flimsy reasons will not be considered for taking leave from attending a party meeting,” added Mr Tiwari.

In an attempt to maintain proper attendance of office-bearers in the meeting, the Delhi BJP has started maintaining a new attendance register from Monday, which was used in a meeting of heads and deputy heads of different departments and cells.

It also came to notice that sometimes senior office-bearers assigned to inform about a meeting to others did not disseminate the information properly and adopted a pick and choose policy.

“It was witnessed that information about the meeting, which was called to finalise plans for the November 8 programme, was not given to all the state office-bearers. Due to this, only one vice president and one general secretary were present along with district president and others. Mr Tiwari chaired the meeting. Several office-bearers complained that they had no information about the meeting. Now, it will also be ensured that the meeting details are properly communicated to all who are expected to attend the meeting,” a party insider added.
