New Delhi: Facing embarrassment over hoardings put across different parts of national capital by its general secretary Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Delhi BJP is likely to forward the matter for disciplinary action to the Central leadership. Mr Chahal put up hoardings across the city saying that the “Congress and AAP have joined hands for their greed for power”, while the grand old party has denied any alliance with AAP.

It is learnt that Mr Chahal put up maximum hoardings in East Delhi and Central Delhi as he is eyeing the BJP ticket to contest from East Delhi Lok Sabha seat.

A senior party functionary said that with such hoardings, Mr Chahal accepted that if both the parties, Congress and AAP, joined hands, they would defeat BJP. “It is like accepting defeat at the very start of poll process,” he added.

Mr Chahal, suspended twice from the BJP for anti-party activities, was in the news for all the wrong reasons.

In December last year, he tried to hijack the meet of a booth president in the presence of BJP president Amit Shah, overruling works of others. Last month, he called a meeting of nearly five hundred booth workers while only a handful of workers attended it. On both the occasions, he faced flak from party leaders.

A Delhi BJP insider told this newspaper that hoardings put up by Mr Chahal is not in sync with the stand taken by the state leadership. “The hoardings put up on the Congress-AAP alliance do not reflect the current political development taken place two days ago in which Congress denied any tie-up with AAP. Why is there so much hurry in putting up these hoardings?”

Terming Mr Chahal act an embarrassment, a party insider said that while lobbying for ticket to contest Lok Sabha polls from East Delhi, Mr Chahal should have shown maturity. “Going against the party line will come to the notice of Central leadership. Being a state general secretary, he should have acted in a mature manner.”

Earlier, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari had said, “BJP will contest the next elections on the ground of the development work and with the target of 51 per cent vote on each booth under the leadership of Prime Minister Narender Modi whether AAP contests alone or with an alliance with Congress. We are not concerned about AAP and Congress alliance. BJP will defeat both the parties either they contest together or separately,” Mr Tiwari had said.
