Blind girl raped by three, accused arrested
New Delhi: A 20-year-old visually challenged woman was allegedly raped in Central Delhi’s Desh Bandhu Gupta Road. The rape survivor identified the accused by his voice, who has been arrested by the police.
The arrested accused was identified as Chhotu Pal, who offered the victim chocolates and biscuits while trying to lure her into a jhuggi.
On Friday, when the victim’s mother had gone to fetch water, she heard two men talking near her shanty, she told the police. Soon, two of them forcefully took her from the one-room shanty where she lived with her mother. They took her to an unoccupied room in the neighbourhood and allegedly raped her. A third man joined the two accused, she said in her statement to the police.
The victim said that Chhotu Pal threatened to beat her if she did not accompany him.
According to the police, when the girl’s mother returned home after an errand, she saw her daughter crying in a corner. When asked what was wrong, the girl said that their neighbour had come home on the pretext of getting sugar and raped her.
So far, the police has arrested Chhotu Pal and detained two of his accomplices.
