Ex-worker fires at Japanese firm's HR head in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: A human resource wing head of a Gurgaon-based Japanese company was shot at by two motorcycle-borne assailants, including a sacked employee, on Thursday while he was on his way to work.
The incident occurred around 9 am when the victim, Binesh Sharma, HR head of Mitsubishi, was going to his office in IMT, Manesar, in a car. “Two persons on a motorcycle tried to intercept Binesh Sharma’s car on gun-point. When he did not stop but accelerated instead, the pillion rider opened fire aiming to kill Sharma,” Gurgaon police public relations officer Ravinder Kumar said.
Mr Sharma suffered two gunshot injuries, he said.“The attackers, one of whom was later identified as Joginder, managed to escape from the spot. Some passersby called the police and Mr Sharma was admitted to Rockland Hospital where he is said to be out of danger,” Mr Kumar said.
The police said that doctors had operated upon the HR head to remove the bullets that had penetrated his back, and assured his family that he was out of danger. On Wednesday, Mr Sharma had sacked an employee, Joginder, over his alleged “unprofessional behaviour”, officials said.
Joginder later threatened Mr Sharma of dire consequences but the HR head did not take his warning seriously, the officer added. “An employee whom Dinesh Kumar Sharma had sacked a few months ago is suspected of the crime. The sacked employee’s family had been threatening him with dire consequences if he did not arrange for him to be re-hired by the company,” said PRO Kumar.
“We have lodged a case under relevant Sections against Joginder and his accomplice. Investigation is underway and raids are being conducted at all possible hideouts of the attackers. We will arrest them soon,” he said.
“The accused family had been threatening my son repeatedly. Only yesterday morning, his brother called Dinesh to Bilaspur chowk and threatened him. In the evening, they again called him up and threatened him with dire consequences. However, Dinesh did not even tell us about it. We only found out after the shooting,” Mr Sharma’s father said.
