Delhi: 2 people die as unidentified vehicle rams into bike on NH-8

The victims had gone to Haridwar on a bike and were returning on Sunday when they were hit by an unidentified vehicle, the police said.

New Delhi: Two people riding a motorcycle died after allegedly being hit by a vehicle on National Highway 8 in south Delhi's Mahipalpur, the police said on Monday.

On receiving information on Monday morning that two men were lying unconscious on the highway, the police reached the spot and found one of them lying on the edge of the road while the other in a drain, a senior police officer said.

They were rushed to a hospital where they were declared ‘brought dead’, the officer said.

Devender Lama (28) and Milan Rana (20) had gone to Haridwar on a motorcycle on Saturday and were returning on Sunday night when they were hit by an unidentified vehicle, the police said.

Lama was a resident of Durga Vihar in outer Delhi's Najafgarh while Rana stayed in Bijwasan.

The helmets and a bag were found near the spot of the incident but their motorcycle was nowhere to be found, they said, adding it is suspected that the two-wheeler was stolen and the police were questioning the locals to trace it.

CCTV footage from the area is also being scanned to identify the vehicle that hit the duo, the police said.
