Imparting training to police a must, says Anil Baijal
New Delhi: To adopt an increased people-friendly approach, lieutenant governor (L-G) Anil Baijal on Thursday stressed on enhancing the professionalism and improving soft skill sets of the Delhi police personnel.
Chairing a review meet, the L-G directed the Delhi police to forge technological partnerships with various varsities to conduct regular refresher training
programmes.
The L-G was informed expert trainers from several forces, including the Intelligence Bureau, CBI and AIIMS etc have been roped to aid in continuous upgradation of investigative, intelligence-gathering and forensic skills of Delhi police personnel.
The officials told the L-G that study material for police officers has been developed in the form of CDs, training films, informative booklets and the like. “The Union home ministry has approved Rs 137.78 crore for a modern Police Training School at Jharoda Kalan with a proposed training capa-city of 2,000 personnel,” a statement from LG house said.
In the meeting, it was also apprised that subsidiary training units at district level have been initiated and 640 courses with 30,000 participants have been held. Mr Baijal harped upon the need for increased professionalism within the police force.
