Similar tattoos help cops trace victims, accused

Bodies were either naked or dressed only in undergarments.

New Delhi: Similar tattoos on the bodies of three women helped Delhi police to identify the victims and the accused involved in murder of the women in the city.

Three mutilated bodies have been found in a 10-kilometre radius in South Delhi over the last fortnight. The modus operandi seemed similar — the bodies were mutilated, hacked and dumped in drains or street corners. In each case, the police believe the murder was carried out far from the spot where the body was recovered. The bodies were either naked or dressed only in undergarments.

A senior police official told that after questioning more than 50 tattoo artists in the city, they got a clue about the identity of bodies.

“We have identified two bodies that were found under Vasant Vihar police station. The family members have identified the bodies. With the help of family members, police have managed to identify people who were in touch with the victims,” said a senior police official.

The police said that one women had a tattoo of a spider on the lower back of the body while the other had a tattoo of a flower on her hands. Both the tattoos were recently made.

During investigation, it has been found that the girls were allegedly part of an online portal which provides escort services in South Delhi. They had monetary dispute with their masters that might have led to their brutal murder. “Their master was not paying the promised amount to the victims for their services despite charging huge amounts from their clients. It led to the dispute that might have ended with their murders,” added a senior police official.

“It has been established that a gang operating escort services is involved in the killings. Several police teams are raiding several hideout of gang members in the city and other neighbouring states to nab the accused,” said a senior police official.

On November 18, a body of woman was found stuffed in polythene bag near Sai Mandir in Vasant Vihar.

On November 25, a headless body of a woman was found inside a manhole on the premises of a four-storey building in South Delhi’s Munirka.

On December 1, a body of woman, in her 20s, with injury marks on the neck, was found lying under a car near Khanpur T-point.
