Boyfriend flees after throwing chemical at woman at NDLS

The woman told the police that Rudra wanted her to live with him, but she refused.

New Delhi: A 29-year-old woman was injured after a man threw a chemical on her near the New Delhi railway station (NDLS) on Saturday.

The police said that the accused, identified as Rudra Vishwash, who hails from West Bengal, fled from the spot after throwing a seemingly dilute chemical at the woman.

According to a senior police official, a police control room (PCR) call was made at around 1.15 pm on Saturday by a passerby, who stated that some chemical had been thrown at a woman near the deluxe toilet at Ajmeri Gate side of NDLS.

“Acting on the call, an emergency response vehicle (ERV) was dispatched for the spot. When the police team reached the spot, the victim told the police that her boyfriend, Rudra Vishwash, had thrown some chemical at her,” said the senior police official.

“She was rushed to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) hospital, where she is being treated. In her statement, the woman stated that she came to Delhi with Rudra Vishwash six months ago and they lived together for couple of months. After an altercation with her boyfriend, she was living as a destitute at NDRS,” said the senior police official.

“The woman told the police that Rudra wanted her to live with him, but she refused. On Saturday, Rudra met her near the deluxe toilet at Ajmeri Gate side and threw the substance at her before fleeing from the spot. The liquid, a seemingly dilute chemical, was brought in a plastic water bottle by the accused,” said a police official privy to the investigation.

“A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at the NDLS police station. The victim has swelling on her right eye and has blurred vision, for which she is undergoing treatment. A manhunt has been initiated to nab the culprit,” said the police official.
