New Delhi: Eight policemen have been suspended for attacking people in two separate cases in the city.

In the first case, six policemen were suspended while the SHO was sent to district lines for allegedly beating up a man and his sons inside a police station in Northwest Delhi when they refused to pay fine to get their scooter released after it was towed away from outside their home, a police official said on Tuesday.

Surendra Aggarwal claimed that the scooter was parked outside his residence when the police officials took it away on May 6.

He told senior officers that their security guard had informed the police that the vehicle was not parked illegally, but the police personnel refused to listen to him.

Mr Aggarwal and his sons were beaten up when they visited the police station. An inquiry is being carried out while no FIR has been registered yet.

In the second incident, two policemen were suspended for allegedly beating up an MCD sweeper for not cleaning a police booth in Southeast Delhi’s Sarita Vihar, the police said.

As many 35 to 40 sweepers assembled at the Sarita Vihar police station and demanded action against the police personnel who had allegedly thrashed their co-worker, they said.

Subsequently, head constable Sanjay and constable Amit were suspended, police added.
