New Delhi: During his two-day camp in the city, BJP president Amit Shah will hold about 16 meeting with office-bearers and workers to assess the functioning of party’s city unit. Party insider claimed that Mr Shah will also look into the ongoing infighting, factionalism and inefficiencies of office-bearers in the Delhi BJP.

According to a senior party leader, differences within the party was a major cause of concern for the top leadership given the political uncertainties amid speculations of mid-term poll as nearly 20 AAP MLAs face disqualification under office-of-profit.

Mr Shah’s visit is considered politically significant, especially after reports of infighting and indiscipline in BJP local unit despite the party registering historic victory to three municipal corporations in the polls held in April.

City BJP unit chief Manoj Tiwari said, “Mr Shah’s two-day visit is part of nationwide pravaas which he is undertaking in states where BJP seeks to strengthen its hold. Our party president will hold a series of meetings with party leaders and workers during the camp.”

A party insider said that a detailed programme is being finalised for the meetings and a draft of the programme, including a tentative list of leaders and workers who will be meeting Mr Shah, is being finalised. The draft will soon be sent to Mr Shah for approval.
