Man kills live-in partner, hacks body in Delhi
The police had found the upper portion of the body on Sunday, the lower portion was found on Monday.
With the arrest of a plumber, the Delhi police on Thursday claimed to have solved a brutal murder case of a woman whose body was chopped off into two parts. The upper portion of the body was kept in an airbag and dumped in a drain at Captain Gaur Marg and the lower portion of the body was dumped in another drain at Sriniwaspuri.
The police had found the upper portion of the body on Sunday. The lower portion was found on Monday. According to the police, the accused and the victim were live-in partners. The accused confessed of killing her partner over illicit relationships. The police recovered the hammer and three knives used by the accused for the commission of the offence.
“The accused, Balram (48), allegedly saw the victim, Anarkali (43), in a compromising position with another person. In a fit of rage, he crushed her head with a hammer and chopped her body into two with three knives. Later, he stuffed the upper portion of the body in an airbag and dumped it in a drain at Captain Gaur Marg. He dumped the lower portion of the body in another drain at Sriniwaspuri. The police found the upper portion of the body on Sunday. The lower portion was found on Monday,” said a senior police official.
Anarkali, who ran a tea shop in East of Kailash, had been reported missing for at least two days. During investigation, the police learnt that she had been living with Balram at the time she went missing. Balram had reportedly told neighbours that Anarkali had gone to her village in Tamil Nadu.
The accused was arrested on Wednesday from Astha Kunj Park on a tip off. He confessed to his crime during interrogation, said the police. This was the fourth body found in a span of nine days across the national capital.
Earlier last Friday, a man’s body, which was cut in two parts, was found in Southeast Delhi’s Sangam Vihar area. Police said that the body had been wrapped in a blanket and tied with a rope. The severed legs were stuffed in a plastic bag and found at least 10 feet away.
