New Delhi: In a bid to streamline healthcare facilities in the national capital, the Delhi government, on Friday, initiated a process to provide health cards to the city’s residents for free medical services. The city government had invited Expression of Interest (EoI) for making Aam Aadmi Health Card for approximately 1.8 crore residents.

“The holder of the same (health card) shall be entitled to free services in the healthcare institutions, either owned or run by government of Delhi or on society mode,” said an official statement.

It added that a voter ID of Delhi is mandatory for availing health card for any person aged above 18 years and Aadhaar number is mandatory for anyone above one year. The Aam Aadmi Health Card will be issued by the city government’s department of health and family welfare. “For initial registration, a person aged 18 years and above shall have to provide his/her voter identity card and Aadhar card. Similarly, for initial registration, all residents of Delhi aged more than one year shall have to provide his/her Aadhar card number. Persons with health card will be eligible for free treatment in hospitals, either owned by the Delhi government under autonomous mode, polyclinics, Delhi government dispensaries, seed PUHCs, and mohalla clinics. Persons with health card will be given priority for registration of outdoor services,” the notification said.

The initiative is one of the proposals by the Delhi government to facilitate better services to residents of Delhi. Lieutenant-governor Anil Baijal had recently given a go ahead to all schemes for quality health.

The DGHS has said interested companies and agencies can submit their proposals on the proposed card by February 28.

“The health card will be provided to every citizen. For initial registration, a person aged 18 years and above will have to provide his or her voter identity card of Delhi and Aadhaar Card. Thr card will be issued to those aged more than one year only after their Aadhaar Card number is provided,” a senior official said.
