Shopkeepershot dead in East Delhi after dispute

The victim and the accused are said to be distant relatives, police said.

New Delhi: A shopkeeper in East Delhi was shot dead by two unidentified bike-borne assailants, the police said on Thursday.

The latest shooting incident took place at the Ghazipur Dairy Farm area around 11.30 pm on Wednesday.

The victim was identified as 32-year-old Sha-min, a shopkeeper. Sha-min and his cousin were standing outside the shop when two men arrived and picked up a fight with them. Subs-equently, they shot at the cousins, a senior police officer said. However, Shamin’s cousin did not sustain any bullet injury, the official added.

Locals alleged that the accused duo asked Sha-min about a place where they could get marijuana. Following this they indulged in a verbal spat.

The victim’s body has been sent for a post-mortem. A case has been registered and the police is probing if it was a case of personal enmity. CCTV footages are also being scanned.

Earlier on August 8, a man was allegedly shot dead following a fight that broke out among some youths in South Delhi. Following the incident, two people were arrested and a juvenile was apprehended. The incident took place at Tigri area around 10.00 pm.
