Increase in mugging due to blanket of smog
New Delhi: With the state government huddling to arrives at a solution for the smog that has engulfed Delhi, the blanket has served as a ‘cover’ for thieves, robbers, snatchers who had a field day on Wednesday in the city.
As many as four persons were attacked by the muggers. In one such incident, the thieves astride two bikes allegedly stopped a businessman, dragged him, pointed pistol at him and then assaulted him in Arya Nagar in North-West Delhi.
A morning stroll down the lane nearly costed his life for a businessman in Sarai Rohilla after two bike-borne men allegedly waylaid him, pointed a gun at him and robbed him of his diamond ring, gold chain and Rs 3,000 in cash.
Aryapuri resident Amit Agrawal, 31, had left his house on Wednesday morning at around 6.00am. When he crossed the Nagiya Park and was crossing the foot over bridge, four men wearing helmets on two bikes allegedly stopped him and tried to snatch away the gold chain. Realising their intent, he pushed them away and ran. The men gave chase, attacked him and robbed his valuables. Another assailant shot two rounds in the air before fleeing.
