Old dispute likely cause: Cops.

Ghaziabad: In a shocking incident, a 54-year-old realtor was shot dead by three unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants over an old financial dispute at Railway Road area in Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, said the police on Thursday.

The victim, identified as Ashok Kumar, suffered at least eight bullet injuries, including one which pierced through his eyes. He was a resident of Brij Vihar colony, and a property dealer and builder by profession.

“He was going in his car when three men on a bike intercepted him near Railway Road in Sahibabad village. The attackers fired at him indiscriminately in which Ashok suffered at least eight bullet injuries in his stomach, limbs, and eye. The assailants fled from the spot and Kumar was rushed to Yashoda hospital in Kausambhi where he was declared brought dead,” said a senior police official.

The police has not ruled out the enmity and involvement of his rivals in this case.

“Kumar hails from Banda district of Uttar Pradesh and was a railway contractor there. Three months ago, some unknown persons had fired upon him and in which he was critically injured. Following this, he shifted to Ghaziabad. The police is also examining the CCTV footage from the area for clues,” said a senior police official.

A case under Section 302 of IPC has been registered with Link Road police station and a team has been formed to arrest the culprits.

“Earlier, Kumar worked as a railway contractor in Gonda district. In the year 2011, his rivals attempted to kill him, following which, he shifted base to Ghaziabad and became a property dealer. We are suspecting that the murder may have been carried out by the same gang, though it is subject to investigation. We are waiting for his family to come from Varanasi to gain more leads. Teams are conducting raids to nab the culprits,” said the senior police official. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
