Cargo company cheats doctor of Rs 5 lakh
New Delhi: A former senior doctor of AIIMS lodged a complaint of cheating against a cargo mover who allegedly cheated him and took away domestic items worth Rs 5 lakh.
Dr Sorabh Jain, a resident of Arjun Nagar, Safdarjung Enclave, resigned from his job at AIIMS as he got a residency at Janakpuri Superspeciality Hospital, for which had to shift from Arjun Nagar.
On Sept. 28, he called up Just Dial and enquired aout cargo movers. One Sanjeev called him up and said he was calling from Divine Cargo movers and packers and asked him about the details of the stuff to be moved from Arjun Nagar.
After making some more queries, Dr Jain found the deal lucrative and called him to his home.
The next day, finding the deal lucrative, Dr Jain finalised the deal at Rs 19,000 for shifting his house hold articles to Chanakyapuri, Uttam Nagar Phase-I from Arjun Nagar and the remaining to Bhilai, Chattisgarh (at Dr Jain’s native place).
On Oct. 2, Mr Sanjeev’s team came to Dr Jain’s home and packed all the articles and loaded them in two tempos, one for Chanakyapuri and one for Bhilai. As the two vehicles left, Dr Jain followed on a two-wheeler.
When they reached Chanakyapuri and unloaded the stuff, Mr Sanjeev took Rs 16,000 from Dr Jain and handed him an invoice receipt with the list of articles to be transported to the particular address in Bhilai.
“After three to four days, when I contacted Mr Sanjeev, he came up with excuses for the delay. Since Oct. 29, his mobile phone has been switched off. He cheated me and took away my domestic articles of worth Rs 5 lakh,” Dr Jain said.
A case has been registered and the matter is being investigated, said a senior police official.
