Law student shot dead in Burari

The deceased student was attacked by a security guard when he was talking a walk with his two friends.

New Delhi: A law student was allegedly shot dead in North Delhi’s Burari on Thursday night. A preliminary probe reveals that the deceased was attacked when he was talking a walk with his two friends.

He has been identified as Ashish Bharadwaj. He was pursuing an integrated law course in NCU in Gurgaon. The police said that Ashish along with his two friends Anup and Himanshu had decided to go for walk after dinner. Suddenly, a bike allegedly being driven by a security guard, coming from the rear grazed past Ashish. The three friends asked the biker to be more careful when riding. However, this upset the biker who abused the friends.

The police said that the situation turned ugly when they three also abused the biker. The security guard got off the bike and took out his gun. The three managed to overpower him and pushed him to the ground and began assaulting him. They had even allegedly managed to snatch away gun, but the suspect snatched it back and pointed the gun at them.

Scared, Anup and Himanshu tried to run, but the suspect pointed gun at Ashish. A scuffle followed where Ashish tried to get hold of the gun and in the cofusion a shot was fired. The bullet pierced through Ashish’s hand, hit him on the neck and he fell to the ground subsequently.

A call was made to the police, who moved the injured to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.

A case was registered and probe has been taken up. The police said that they have definite clues about the whereabouts of the suspect and that he will be arrested soon.
