Delhi chief gains from BJP win
New Delhi: The BJP’s massive mandate in the Assembly elections has increased the stature to party’s Delhi unit president Manoj Tiwari, one of the star campaigner. In recent years, Mr Tiwari is the only Delhi BJP chief to be roped in by the party for campaign outside the national capital. Mr Tiwari had campaigned in UP and Punjab. He also campaigned for party candidates contesting municipal polls in Chandigarh, Faridabad, Mumbai and Odissa. Mr Tiwari addressed 67 big rallies and corner meetings in Uttar Pradesh and over all, he addressed 107 rallies and meeting in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he also campaigned in Varanasi. Banking on his popularity among the Poorvanchalis, who are a sizeable workforce in Punjab, BJP organised 19 public meetings of Mr Tiwari in the state. Mr Tiwari had also campaigned for the party in Bihar Assembly polls in 2015. A party insider said that the popularity of Mr Tiwari is working in favour of the party.
“Massive mandate in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, where Mr Tiwari addressed 107 rallies and public meeting, has increased his stature. Many in Delhi unit may not be happy with his growing stature, but now it is going to be a reality and they have to accept it,” he adde
