ACB quizes man who filed PWD complaint
New Delhi: The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) questioned the complainant, Rahul Sharma, in the alleged PWD scam on Thursday. Three FIRs, including one against a company belonging to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s late brother-in-law Surender Bansal, have been registered on May 9 by the ACB in the alleged scam.
Mr Sharma, who is the founder of Roads Anti-Corruption Organisation (RACO), has also submitted a complaint to the ACB for a probe in the alleged “mysterious” death of Bansal. He has also lodged a separate police complaint in this regard.
A complaint was filed by Mr Sharma against Mr Kejriwal and Bansal, the proprietor of a construction firm and a public servant, for alleged irregularities in the grant of contracts for roads and sewer lines in Delhi. The three people named in the FIRs are Bansal (owner of Renu Constructions), Kamal Singh, and Pawan Kumar. It has been found that fake bills were attached for materials that were not supplied. Some of the bills were of companies that do not exist or supply those materials. The ACB said that the probe would focus on the possible involvement of PWD officers.
In his complaint Mr Sharma had also alleged that Mr Kejriwal and PWD minister Satyendra Jain had misused their office for grant of contracts to Bansal. However, the two haven’t been named in the FIR.
Sources said that the ACB has already examined some PWD officials and the representatives of the three firms, against whom the FIRs have been registered, will be questioned next week.
In January this year, the ACB had sent a notice to the PWD asking it to share the details. The department had submitted certain files with the anti-graft body in this regard, said a senior official.
The ACB will seek more files from the PWD. The ACB had also examined the complainant and he is likely to be called again.
