Woman survives gunshot attack by bike-borne youth
NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old woman was shot at allegedly by two unidentified bike-borne assailants near a hotel in Dwarka Sector 12 on Thursday morning The victim has been identified as Kiren. She is a housewife and a part-time property dealer.
According to police, the incident took place at around 8 am at a roundabout near Radisson Blu hotel.
The woman was driving her car when the duo, who were chasing her vehicle, opened fire at her. Ms Kiren was alone in the car when the incident took place. She sustained a bullet injury in her neck and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
“The assailants fled from the spot. Ms Kiren was returning home after dropping her son in school when the incident happened. She was rushed to Venkateshwar hospital. Her situation is stated to be critical,” said a senior police official.
An auto driver, who was present at the spot when the incident happened, said he thought it was the sound of a bullet motorcycle.
“It was later when the car hit the divider, I realised that someone had fired from a gun. I saw two bike-borne assailants, the pillion rider brandishing the gun, fleeing away,” said the auto driver.
It has come to light that the woman has matrimonial and family dispute, police said. Officials of Venkateshwar hospital stated that she was brought to the hospital at around 8.15 am with a bullet injury on her neck.
“We have removed the bullet, however, her condition is really critical and she has been kept on ventilator,” the official said.
The family members of the victim and police suspect involvement of the victim’s husband Varun Yadav in the case. “Kiren and Varun Yadav, married around 10 years ago, were having matrimonial issues.
For the past one-and-half year, Yadav did not give a single penny to my sister due to which she had to start a small finance business in Dwarka,” said Pankaj Bajaj, brother of Kiren.
