Delhi police deploys 14 anti-terror hi-tech vans
New Delhi: Expanding the security blanket in the national capital, the Delhi police on Friday launched 14 additional Parakram vans with specially-trained combatants and anti-terror preparedness accessories at Red Fort.
The Delhi police had, earlier in May, launched over 10 Parakaram vans in its armoury to make citizenry safe. On Friday, 14 new Parakram vans have been added to the fleet. These vans are mandated for anti-terrorism and other serious law and order situations. The primary aim of deploying these vans is to instil a feeling of security and safety amongst citizens by virtue of sheer visibility deterrence and also to respond to real life situations promptly.
The newly-inducted vans would be placed at selected vulnerable and strategic points, comprising of high footfall areas and iconic buildings. Two of the vans will be reserved for emergencies. All the vans are GPRS enabled and are fitted with pan-Delhi wireless communication.
Each van has been provided with a phablet with Internet connectivity and recording facility. Every van will be manned by one driver, one in-charge, and three commandos. Drivers in these vans will be trained by NSG.
