Bid to kidnap businessman foiled by cops, two arrested

Finally the police received specific information that a Wagon-R car was seen moving in a suspicious manner at Nilothi Extension (in the area).

New Delhi: Delhi police arrested a former employee of Sargam Electronics, a branded chain of electronic goods, and his associate who had kidnapped the store’s owner. The accused also demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore to release him.

According to the police, the kidnappers had planned the kidnapping for over an year, but lady luck deserted them a mere 22 hours after the kidnapping — the police traced them through their IEMI number.

The accused have been identified as Manish, 23 and Satnam Singh 44. Manish was employed in Karol Bagh godown five years ago, the police said.

They added the owner Saurabh Gupta, 28, a resident of Karampura on December 9 had visited Paschim Vihar showroom, but didn’t return by 9:30 pm. A person called the owner’s family and them told that their son was with them and they will contact them on WhatAspp .

Meanwhile, Mr Gupta’s father made a PCR call and approached the Moti Nagar police station from where the case was shifted to Paschim Vihar on Tuesday last. A case under Section 365 of IPC based on the father’s statement was lodged and probe was taken up.

On last Monday, the complainant got a call demanding a ransom of Rs 5 crore. Seeing the gravity of the situation, a team of special staff and AATS were roped in along with the Paschim Vihar police.

Finally the police received specific information that a Wagon-R car was seen moving in a suspicious manner at Nilothi Extension (in the area).

Immediately, the police laid trap at Udai Vihar, Chander Vihar, Nilothi Extension and the house was raided where the victim was successfully rescued from the possession of the accused.
