New Delhi: A gym owner was shot in his thighs while two other rounds of fire damaged his car when two armed assailants allegedly shot at him just 50 metres away from Shakarpur police station limits on Tuesday evening. The police said that the 30-year-old injured was identified as Rahul, who resides in Bank Enclave in Shakarpur. He sustained a bullet injury in his right thigh while two other rounds of fire hit the car’s windshield.

According to the police, Mr Rahul, who runs a gym in Shakarpur, had left his car to meet someone when the attack took place. Probe reveals that the car in which Rahul was travelling reached near the traffic junction, just 50 meters away from Shakarpur police station. Rahul received a call following which he stopped the car at the corner and was talking over phone. Just then, two bike-borne assailants started firing indiscriminately at Mr Rahul. While the two rounds of fire hit the car, one bullet hit Mr Rahul.

Feared of getting caught, the assailants ran away from the spot. The incident came to light when on hearing gunshots, the police was alerted and they visited the spot and moved Mr Rahul to AIIMS Trauma Center, where after treating him doctors discharged him.

Based on Mr Rahul’s statement, the Shakarpur police has registered a case and are on the look out of the accused.
