New Delhi: Under the leadership of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken, the residents of the Delhi Cantonment held a massive demonstration on Thursday to protest against the alleged BJP-Aam Aadmi Party government nexus, which has  made "the life of the residents of the area a nightmare".

The protest was organised by Delhi Cantonment councillor Sandeep Tanwar. Former MP Mahabal Mishra was also present. Addressing the demonstrators present, Mr  Maken said in the name of Swachhta Abhiyan Tax, sealing and removal of the names from the voters' list of people of five villages, the BJP, which rules at the Centre and in the MCDs of Delhi, and the AAP government in Delhi were relentlessly harassing the people of Delhi Cantonment. Mr Maken said  as a result, the life of the people in  Delhi Cantonment has become a huge nightmare. Mr Maken said whereas Delhi was under the rule of the AAP government, the BJP has majority in Delhi Cantonment and rules at the Centre, but both these parties were looking at and enjoying the "fun" as the sealing drive has become an unbearable nightmare for the people of the area. He said the BJP and the AAP governments were silent even as the people were being harassed  in the name of  sealing drive.

Mr Maken added that  tax being charged from residents of Delhi Cantonment in the name of Swachhata Abhiyaan is putting a burden on residentsts, who were already weighed down by the rise in the prices of commodities. He said neither the BJP nor the AAP government has done anything to solve the problems of the residents of the area.
