Bank officials, woman held in CBSE paper leak case

The police said on Thursday that two men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the leak of the mathematics paper.

New Delhi: A bank manager, a head cashier and a woman were arrested for alleged involvement in leaking the CBSE Class 10 mathematics paper in connivance with a teacher caught earlier from Himachal Pradesh.

The question papers of Class 12 economics and Class 10 mathematics exams, scheduled on March 26 and March 28 respectively, were leaked on WhatsApp.

Last week, the crime branch arrested Rakesh Kumar, Amit Sharma and Ashok Kumar, all employees of DAV Centenary Public School in Una town. The three men were arrested in connection with the economics paper leak case of class 12.

The police said on Thursday that two men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the leak of the mathematics paper. The arrested woman from Ferozepur in Punjab had allegedly sent a copy of the leaked paper by Rakesh Kumar further.

According to Alok Kumar, joint commissioner of police crime branch, the SIT in its probe further cracked and arrested three masterminds behind the leakage of CBSE 12th class economics paper and all the three accused have been taken into five days’ police custody. The arrested Sheru Ram, 35, a branch manager of Union Bank of India, Una, HP, Om Prakash, 58, also a resident of HP is head cashier of the same bank while Manju Bala (name changed) from Firozpur, Punjab had forwarded the handwritten question papers of 12th class economics and 10th class mathematics to others via WhatsApp from her mobile phone which later went viral on social media.

During further interrogation of the kingpin Rakesh Kumar, PGT commerce teacher, DAV School, Una, Himachal Pradesh, it is learnt that he planned and executed the leakage of 10th class math paper also. On march 23, he not only took out the question paper bundle of 12th class economics paper, but also took out the question paper bundle of 10th class maths from the bank. After taking out both the bundles, the one which contained Class 12 economics paper was given to Amit and Ashok.

“The 10th class math’s paper was kept by Rakesh himself in his bag and later, he opened the seal carefully and took out one math question paper. After taking the photographs of the paper on his mobile, he kept it inside the cover and resealed it,” added the police officer.
