Two Hizbul Mujahideen ultras held by special cell
New Delhi: In a major crackdown against terrorists, the sleuths of Delhi police special cell nabbed two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), including a juvenile, in a joint operation with J&K police.
The arrested militant was identified as Kifayatullah Bukhari, a resident of Pora Bara in Shopian, and a juvenile. They were nabbed at a special blockade setup in Shopian on Friday.
The special cell was identifying and apprehending the various modules inspired by ISIS and terrorists of HM, who are procuring weapons from North India. It was revealed that these militant organisations were planning to extend their activities in Delhi and nearby areas.
In September, sleuths nabbed two militants of ISIS-JK from the Red Fort in New Delhi along with arms and ammunitions while in November three militants were arrested from Sri Nagar with hand grenades and weapons.
DCP (special cell) PS Kushwah said, “This year, a specific input was received regarding the movements of HM militants in NCR for procuring sophisticated small weapons. It has been learnt that small weapons for executing target killings are difficult to arrange in J&K and the HM militants are procuring them from NCR. Information was received that an HM militant has procured a sophisticated weapon and will join the ranks of HM.”
One pistol along with 14 live cartridges were recovered from the arrested.
The militants were in contact with Naved Mustaq (30) also known as Naveed Babu, an ex-constable of J&K police. He had joined J&K police in 2012 and was serving as a constable before joining the militants.
