Three arrested for killing youth in Neb Sarai area
New Delhi: Three persons were arrested on charges of murdering a 21-year-old youth in South Delhi’s Neb Sarai area.
The victim had gone missing on April 4. Police said that based on closed circuit television camera (CCTV) footage, the police found that a scuffle between the trio, who was inebriated, had led to the murder.
The police said the arrested youths have been identified as Nadeem (23) and Shah Alam (26). Probe reveals the duo along with another person murdered Deepak, whose body was found in nearby drainage the next day.
The post-mortem of the body was conducted in the AIIMS. During autopsy, injury on head and marks of strangulation over neck were noticed. Accordingly Sections 302/201 of the Indian Penal Code were invoked .
Further investigation into the matter was being conducted the police. Meanwhile, the footage of CCTV on Asthal Mandir road showed two boys dragging away the deceased. The police launched a search for the culprits and on April 11, they were arrested. The third accused, who went to his native village, was arrested on April 13 from Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, an undertrial prisoner, who has been imprisoned in Luksar jail here, died at a local hospital where he was admitted to after he complained of chest pain, the police said.
The prisoner, identified as Shahzad alias Baboo, 43, a resident of Aligarh, complained of chest and abdomen pain on Wednesday. He was admitted to a hospital, where he died during treatment on Thursday, the police said.
DIG Pretinder Singh visited the jail and conducted an inquiry, the police said. However, jail superintendent Vipin Kumar Mishra requested the district and session judge for a judicial invcestigation in the matter, the police said.
Shahzad was an accused in a murder case registered at the Delhi Gate police station in 2008. In 2009, he was accused of helping a criminal in escaping from the custody of Aligarh police. The deceased was shifted from Aligarh jail to Luksar jail in Gautam Buddha Nagar district last year.
