Ruckus at AIIMS trauma centre
NEW DELHI: A ruckus was created at AIIMS trauma centre after the guards thrashed the family of a patient who alleged that the hospital security staff passed lewd comments on his wife.
However the hospital authorities denied such claims and said that the persons were forcefully entering the emergency ward which is not allowed.
A 37-year-old lady lodged a complaint that the security guards of the hospital thrashed her husband and assaulted her sister at the gate of the trauma centre of the hospital,” Devender Arya, deputy commissioner of police (southwest), said. One Asghar Ali had been injured along with other persons and MLC of all the four members were prepared, the DCP said.
Subsequently, a case under appropriate sections have been registered at Safdurjung police station and five persons have been apprehended in this regard, police said, adding CCTV footage are being analysed.
“At around 3 pm, a group of people came to see a patient who is admitted on the seventh floor of the trauma centre building. The group was led by a woman and they tried to barge into the building through the emergency ward,” Dr Biplab Mishra, faulty in-charge of security at AIIMS trauma centre, said. “When the security guards and special security guards tried to stop them because we allow only one or two relatives to meet the patient, they started arguing with the staff and the lady grabbed the collar of one of the special security guards,” he said.
However, other people in the group started abusing them and became aggressive. Around 40 more joined the group and they tried to overpower the guards who tried to stop them from entering the building premises, Dr Mishra claimed.
