Three senior IPS officers transferred from Delhi
New Delhi: In a major reshuffle, three senior IPS officers were transferred from Delhi to other Union Territories on Thursday, while three others were posted back from other UT’s to the national capital.
Sanjay Beniwal, a 1989-batch IPS officer, will take over as the new director general of police (DGP) of Chandigarh, replacing Tejendra Singh Luthra, a Union home ministry order stated. Mr Luthra, a 1990-batch IPS officer, will now join Delhi police.
Mr Bainiwal is presently serving as Delhi police special commissioner.
Puducherry will have its first woman DGP with S. Sundari Nanda being appointed to the top post on Thursday.
Ms Nanda, a 1988 batch IPS officer belonging to the AGMU cadre, has been transferred from National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCTD) and posted as DGP of UT of Puducherry, an order of the Union home ministry stated.
The incumbent, S.K. Gautam, a 1989 batch IPS officer, has been shifted and posted as special commissioner in the capital.
He was instrumental in launching a series of initiatives, including cycle patrolling, flying tigers, eagle eye towers and self-balancing scooter (Segway) patrolling in a bid to improve the law and order situation.
Special commissioner traffic and chief spokesperson, Dipendra Pathak, posted in Delhi police has been transferred from Delhi to Andaman and Nicobar.
The 1989 batch officer will take charge as a DG. The post of ADG rank is created in Andaman & Nicobar.
Nuzhat Hassan, a 1991 batch IPS officer, who was posted as director general in Andaman & Nicobar, has been called back and transferred and posted to Delhi.
According to police sources, the post for Ms Hassan has not yet been decided.
